• 🏠 I’m from Hiroshima and now live in Kanagawa.
• 🌍 I studied abroad in Ireland for 4 months and have visited the U.S., France, UK, Poland, Finland, Vietnam, Korea, China and more!
• 🗣️ I speak English and can teach in both Japanese and English — don’t worry if you're nervous!
• ⚽ I love soccer (Sanfrecce Hiroshima & Borussia Dortmund), fishing, music, and nature.
• 🌸 I’m always excited when learners discover the beauty of Japan through language.

Lessons with Haru are honestly such a vibe. We mostly just chat about whatever comes up, and somehow I always end up learning new words and phrases I’ve never seen in any textbook. He’s super easy to talk to, and his corrections are gentle but helpful. I’ve started sounding way more natural when I speak, which is kinda wild considering how shy I was at first. It’s like learning with a chill friend who actually knows what he’s doing.

We’re using Genki in our lessons, but Haru doesn’t just stick to the book—he mixes in real-life stuff that makes everything click. Sometimes we act out scenes and crack up while doing it, but I end up remembering the vocab so much better that way. He’s great at explaining grammar without making it feel like school, and he never minds when I ask a million questions. Honestly, best decision I made for my Japanese.

What I love about Haru is how he always adds that extra cultural context. Like, he’ll explain why something sounds too blunt in Japanese or how a native speaker would actually say it. I’ve brought in J-pop lyrics and random lines from shows, and he helps break them down so I finally get what’s going on. My listening’s improved a ton since I started learning with him.

The thing I appreciate most is how Haru adjusts the lesson depending on how I’m feeling that day. Some days we go through Genki, other days we just chat, and both feel super productive. He’s super chill, never makes you feel rushed, and somehow always manages to explain stuff in a way that makes sense—even when I’m asking the same thing again 😅. Definitely recommend.
